A wildfire near Chiloquin has closed Highway 97 and forced some evacuations near the area of Highway 422.
According to the South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership a fire jumped Hwy 422 North and forced a Level 3 (GO!) evacuation notice for Hwy 422 North to the junction with Hwy 97 and Hwy 62 south of Chiloquin.
The Two Four Two Fire was discovered Monday night is currently active between Hwy 97 and Hwy 62 and Hwy 422 North and Hwy 422 South.
It’s estimated to be more than 1,000 acres with no containment. The wind-driven fire has moved nearly 3 miles from its initial reported location near Williamson River Campground.
It continues to be wind-driven, moving to the south and southwest. So far the fire is estimated to have burned at least 4 miles from its initial point and the winds are not letting up.
Oregon Shores Area is now under Level 3 Evacuation Order. Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputies and local firefighters are notifying people now.
If you are in the Oregon Shores Area around Agency Lake, please evacuate.
Oregon Shores 2 is under a Level 3 Evacuation and residents are being notified.
Oregon Shores 1 is now under a Level 2 Evacuation and residents should be getting organized and prepared for an immediate evacuation if necessary.
