The Warm Springs Tribal Police Department is investigating the suspicious death of a man on Saturday night.
Chief Bill Elliott said officers responded to a “suspicious circumstances” report in the Greeley Heights area.
When they arrived they found Jonathan Gilbert, in a life-threatening situation.
As officers attempted to provide CPR and other life-saving procedures, and prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Personnel, Gilbert died, Elliott said.
The department started an investigation with the FBI and developed a person of interest.
Forensic teams were called to the scene, and the deceased was taken to the medical examiner’s office to determine the official cause of death.
Elliott said there was no reason to believe the public was any danger.
The investigation continues.
