▶️ 17 Deschutes Co. nonprofits get $160,000 in grants from United Way

More than $160,000 will soon be be distributed among 17 nonprofits in Deschutes County.

United Way of Central Oregon often grants money to nonprofits working to make a difference in the community.

The money is to be used for emergency food banks and rent assistance services in the area.

St. Vincent de Paul is one of the nonprofits accepting the funds.

“This really is about community. And so we have people come in and donate as small as ten or $20, and then we have other people that give us like United Way $15,000. And it’s only because of that that we can be here,” said Gary Hewitt, St. Vincent de Paul Executive Director.

The nonprofits are scattered throughout La Pine, Bend and Redmond.
