Two arrested in connection with suspected human trafficking

Bend Police arrested two people from the Portland area, Tuesday afternoon, following a brief investigation into suspected human trafficking.

Officers stopped a stolen silver Dodge Charger near SE Murphy and Country Club Road, just before 1:30 p.m., Christmas Eve. In the vehicle, they found 40-year-old Jennifer Johnson, of Portland, and 29-year old Tyler Ford, of Gresham, with a 15-year-old Portland girl. The teen had been reported missing, and Ford was allegedly in violation of a restraining order by being with the girl.

Investigators seized heroin and meth from the car, along with numerous stolen and forged IDs, several of which were linked to thefts in the Portland area. Police also believe the teen was being groomed to work in the commercial sex trade.

Johnson is charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, 10 counts of ID Theft, 10 counts of Forgery, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and meth possession. Ford faces charges of felony heroin possession and violating a restraining order.

The two appeared in court Thursday afternoon; Ford was granted conditional release. Johnson’s bail was set at $35,000.
