A 63-year-old Terrebonne motorcyclist was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash on Highway 97 north of Redmond.
According to Oregon State Police, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. at the Highway 97/O’Neil Highway junction when a 70-year-old man driving a Chevy Suburban pulling a trailer tried crossing Highway 97 and pulled out in front of a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Charles Smith of Terrebonne and a BMW driven by a 62-year-old Madras woman.
Smith was taken to the hospital by air ambulance where he was pronounced dead. The other two drivers were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and there’s no word yet on whether anyone was cited in the crash.
OSP was assisted by the Redmond Police Department and ODOT, who closed the highway for a couple of hours.
