A Terrebonne man was arrested Thursday, charged with five counts each of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. All the counts involve a child.

Central Oregon Daily News is not naming the suspect because that could lead people to identify the alleged victim, who is a minor.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation started on May 31 when a patrol deputy began looking into a report of child rape. The victim was safe and outside the area at the time of the report, DCSO said.

Detectives investigating the case served a search warrant on a Terrebonne residence on Thursday. The suspect was taken into custody.

Charges filed in Deschutes County District Court indicate the alleged incidents happened between November 2022 and May 2023.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing.
