Summit and Bend Keep Volleyball Rivalry Alive in 6A Competition

Bend Senior High School‘s Lava Bears knew that this year’s road to state would be their toughest yet with the jump up to 6A competition. But despite the competition in the Salem area, Bend’s biggest road block to their state title is proving to be right here at home.

Bend’s own cross-town rival the Summit High School Storm currently sits atop the mountain conference bracket. The two schools renew their rivalry with their last big test before post-season play begins.

Summit Student Balances Football and National Guard

He was out for the first three games of the season but Jeremiah McCray is back on the field at Summit High School, just in time for homecoming. However the senior defensive end has been busy for good reason, he was at basic training in Georgia as part of the National Guard.

Scrimmage in the Smoke

OSU Players and Fans Not Phased by Haze

The Oregon State Beavers are preparing for their season opener against Ohio State with a series of public scrimmages across the state, and today they were in Bend.

The green and white at Summit High School was replaced by orange and black on Thursday afternoon as the Oregon State Beavers invaded campus to hold an inter-squad scrimmage.

The usual familiar backdrop of the Cascade Mountains was replaced with smoke and haze but the show went on, and players and fans alike seemed unphased.

The beavers had moments throughout the scrimmage where they looked sharp, and others, not so much. We’ll blame it on the smoke. Overall the trip was a success and a great chance for fans to see their team up close and personal.

The Beavers kick off their season at number 5-ranked Ohio State on September 1st.
