Redmond Marching Band Needs New Uniforms

The Redmond High School marching band has been a part of the community since it was started in 1927 and in those 90 years the band has only had three uniforms. Each set of new uniforms has been expected to last over 20 years, but these most recent uniforms have lasted almost a generation. That age shows with some uniforms missing buttons, zippers are broken, some just don’t fit many of the students and students and teachers alike describe the uniforms as “outdated.”

Central Oregon Daily’s resident band kid, and reporter, Anyssa Bohanan has more on how the band hopes to raise $55,000 for new uniforms.

The Center Foundation Player of the Game: Ava Kitchin

Nailing a turnaround three point field goal that lifted Redmond to a lead the hosts would not relinquish, Ava Kitchin poured in 20 points to pace the Panthers to a 53-37 victory over crosstown rival Ridgeview in the Intermountain Conference girls’ basketball opener for both schools Friday evening.

Kitchin’s only trey of the game sparked a 24-5 run by Redmond and help the senior center earn The Center Foundation Player of the Game honors. The victory was only the Panthers’ second in the last 15 matches with the Ravens.

Hands-On Learning For Students Looking For Careers Right Out of High School

Governor Kate Brown made a case Monday for increased education funding and a focus on technical education programs across the state. The governor said more apprenticeships and hands-on learning will help students learn skills needed for higher-paying jobs in industries like technology, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

Central Oregon Daily’s Austin Reed visited one technical education class at Redmond High School and files this report.

The Center Foundation Player of the Game: Ben Graziani

Catching four of his six receptions for first downs, Ben Graziani helped key Summit High School’s 31-17 victory over visiting Redmond High School in a Special District 1 football game Friday evening.

With 83 yards receiving, including a four-yard touchdown pass, the senior receiver earned The Center Foundation Player of the Game honors in the Storm’s third win of the season.

The Center Foundation Player of the Game: Cambree Scott

With nine kills and solid defense, Cambree Scott led Bend Senior High School to a league-opening 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-10) sweep of visiting Redmond High School in an Intermountain Conference volleyball match last Thursday night.

For her effort, the senior middle blocker earned The Center Foundation Player of the Game honors.
