Bend Rock Gym Bouldering Expansion

Bend Rock Gym is already the hot spot to climb indoors in town but now the gym has expanded its facility by 11,000 square feet and has all new walls for beginners to experts. The gym will be hosting an open house for the public from 6-9 PM on Thursday, June 13, with beer and pizza for visitors to enjoy.

Taste This! – Mecca Grade Estate Malt

In this week’s culinary adventure, Donna Britt visits a thousand-acre family farm just north of Madras, where Brad Klann and his son, Seth are putting some of the grain they grow through the ancient process of malting.

He went from school superintendent to whiskey distiller. In this week’s culinary adventure, Donna Britt introduces us to one of the founders of new basin distilling company in Madras to find out exactly what goes in to their small-batch craft spirits.

Move over Kentucky! Rick Molitor is making some delicious whiskey along with their first cut vodka and stagger gin, all now available in Central Oregon liquor stores. Donna also tried their Madras mule made with their strong whiskey and fresh Madras mint.

Downtown Parking Changes Impact Nearby Residents

Three weeks ago, the city of Bend made some changes to the downtown parking rules to relieve congestion, but now homeowners nearby say those chnages are having unintended consequences on the safety and security of their neighborhoods.
Central Oregon Daily’s Curtis Vogel talked with one of those concerned homeowners on Thursday after eight residents spoke up about the issue at Wednesday night’s city council meeting.
During that city council meeting, councilors promised to schedule a work session to address the issue.
