Local BMX Rider Brings Home Fourth Straight Championship Title

17-year-old Olivia Armstrong was already a two time world champion when she went to South Carolina this week to compete in the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships. This year, however, she stepped up in category to face riders that were older and more experienced than her.

As Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan reports, Armstrong overcame the odds to defend her title and lay claim as one of the best BMX riders in the world.

Local BMX Rider Goes for Third Straight World Championship Title

At just 17 years old Olivia Armstrong is already one of the best BMX riders in the world. After winning back to back World Championship titles in 2015 and 2016, Armstrong is in South Carolina this week competing at the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships hoping to bring home another trophy.

Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan sat down with Armstrong ahead of her first race to see what challenges the championship rider will face in a new category filled with unfamiliar faces.
