Origin Story: The Lemon Tree

In this week’s Origin Story, Central Oregon Daily’s Allison Roecker introduces us to the chefs behind The Lemon Tree in Bend. After a life of adventure, Chef Betsy McDonald and Chef Jaclyn Perez are channeling that adventure with a menu that is internationally inspired, but locally sourced.

The Lemon Tree is located in Downtown Bend on Franklin and currently they’re only open for breakfast and lunch.

Central Oregon’s Largest Food Festival is June 23-25

Karin Roy with Bite of Bend stopped by the Afternoon Edition of Central Oregon Daily to talk about the 2017 Bite of Bend festivities. The preview party starts downtown Friday at 5 p.m. and the weekend continues through Sunday with bites from local chefs, a Mixology Showcase and Top Chef competitions. There’s also the Bite Week Series with amazing dinners and information classes to follow it all up.

Baltazar’s Seafood Restaurant owner/head chef Baltazar Chavez gives Central Oregon Daily a history lesson and lavishes us with amazing food from his Bend restaurant. Craft Kitchen & Brewery owner Courtney Stevens and Brew Master Nate McAlpine stopped by Central Oregon Daily with some of their delicious beer samples and stories about how they got started and what sets them apart from other breweries. Courtney is a longtime Central Oregon resident but brings her Southern roots into the Craft Kitchen — Fried Chicken, Shrimp & Grits and Field Greens, for example.
