Origin Story: Deschutes Brewery

You could argue that most people living in Central Oregon have a passion for beer, but the man that started Deschutes Brewery Gary Fish, says he has more of a passion for people.

Gary eventually fessed up and said he did have a favorite beer … the Bachelor Bitter, which is only available at the pub in Downtown Bend. That pub is on Bond Street and their brewery has a tap room and tours. You can find the brewery on Southwest Simpson Avenue.

A special thanks to BendBroadband Business for giving us the time and resources to tell the stories of Central Oregonians who have turned their passion into a profession, with a new edition of Origin Story every Friday on Central Oregon Daily News.

Destination Oregon: Boneyard Pub in Bend

If you were to open a brewpub, you might imagine offering your best beers and some food like burgers, pizza, and that sort of thing, but one local craft brewer that has been selling beer for nearly a decade is taking a different approach with their brewpub menu. For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones takes us to Boneyard Pub.

Thanks to the folks at Boneyard Pub for showing us around and join us every Thursday for another new edition of Destination Oregon, where Dave Jones takes you to some of the most interesting and beautiful places across our state.

Destination Oregon: Worthy Brewing Hopservatory

In a beer town like Bend, breweries have to get creative to set themselves apart from the crowd. Good beer and great food is a start, but one local brewery is taking a step to boldly go where no brewery has gone before. For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones takes us to the Worthy Brewing Hopservatory.

A special thanks to our Destination Oregon sponsor, Bi-Mart, for giving us the time and resources to take you to some of the most interesting and beautiful places across our state, with a new edition of Destination Oregon every Thursday night on Central Oregon Daily.

Supper Club: Central Oregon’s Brewing Industry

Central Oregon has become a hub of the craft brewing industry since Deschutes Brewery made its debut in 1988. Today, there are dozens of newcomers on the scene.

For this week’s Supper Club, Donna Britt sat down with the founders of three new craft breweries in Central Oregon, Kobold Brewing, Monkless Belgian Ales and Bridge 99 Brewing, to see what they are hoping to do to carve out their own niche in this crowded world of craft beers.

A special thanks to our Supper Club sponsor, Selco Community Credit Union, for giving us the time and resources to talk about the issues that impact our region every Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon on Central Oregon Daily.
