On the Scene: Immersion Brewing

Here in Central Oregon we love our craft brews, but do you ever wonder what goes in to making your favorite brew? Well there’s one Bend brewery that will teach you, and in this week’s On the Scene, Meghan Glova heads to Immersion Brewing to create her own custom beer.

Thanks to our On the Scene sponsor, Indian Head Casino, for giving us the time and resources to show you some of the best events and entertainment that our region has to offer every Friday night on Central Oregon Daily.

Taste This! – The Ale Apothecary

For this week’s culinary adventure, Donna Britt explores Central Oregon’s craft beer culture. She went to The Ale Apothecary to get the story behind this vintage batch oak barrel brewery that’s turning out handmade beer here in Central Oregon.

The Ale Apothecary tasting room is open Wednesday through Sunday. Look for their bottles in many fine establishments, including Newport Avenue Market and online at thealeapothocary.com.

Thanks to Newport Avenue Market for giving us the resources to take weekly culinary adventures. Life is short. Eat good food. And have fun doing it.

Origin Story: Deschutes Brewery

You could argue that most people living in Central Oregon have a passion for beer, but the man that started Deschutes Brewery Gary Fish, says he has more of a passion for people.

Gary eventually fessed up and said he did have a favorite beer … the Bachelor Bitter, which is only available at the pub in Downtown Bend. That pub is on Bond Street and their brewery has a tap room and tours. You can find the brewery on Southwest Simpson Avenue.

A special thanks to BendBroadband Business for giving us the time and resources to tell the stories of Central Oregonians who have turned their passion into a profession, with a new edition of Origin Story every Friday on Central Oregon Daily News.
