A Bend man was arrested on DUII charges Tuesday after police say he crashed into several vehicles and nearly hitting a police patrol vehicle.
The incident started around 6:45 p.m. when a Chrysler 300 sedan tried to turn west on NE Hawthorne Avenue and nearly hit a parked, occupied police car.
Sgt. Joe Pacheco said the Chrysler, driven by 33-year-old Corey Michael Helm, was speeding and drove off the road, through a parking lot of a business then back onto the road.
Helm then crashed into a parked pickup truck.
Pacheco said several officers responded and ordered Helm out of the car. He didn’t comply and tried to drive away toward the officers, Pacheco said.
Officers were able to pin Helm’s car with another patrol vehicle to prevent him from getting away.
Information gathered at the scene revealed Helm hit another vehicle on NE Irving Avenue before hitting the pickup truck.
No one was injured during the incdent.
Helm was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail on several charges including DUII, reckless driving, criminal mischief, hit and run and driving while uninsured.
