Firefighters have responded to nearly 50 new wildfires since Thursday morning, with the majority of them east of Bend.
Most areas hit by the storm saw enough rain to help mitigate the fire danger. And most more of the fires sparked this week have been held to less than 1/2 acre..
One of the larger fires is five miles southwest of Dayville and estimated at about 100 acres.
Nearby in Mitchell, crews made headway on the Sheep Mountain Fire, which was held to 70 acres and 15 percent contained.
Firefighters were positioned around Central Oregon Friday to respond to new starts from Thursday’s storms as well as respond to any new storms that might ignite tonight.
