Water at Smith Rock State Park has tested positive for E. coli, forcing a temporarily closure of the park’s restrooms.
The drinking fountains have already been turned off for the winter, and park rangers encourage anyone visiting the park to bring their own drinking water.
Port-a-potties have been delivered to the park for public use.
Park management is using chlorine to decontaminate the water and will retest the source on Friday.
Until then the restrooms and showers will remain closed.
