An injured skier called for help from north sisters this morning, leaving first responders with a tricky rescue.
The call came in to 9-1-1 just after 10 a.m. from the two skiers who were trying to hike to the summit of North Sister and then ski down. However, just before they got to the top one of them slipped and slid down 200 feet, injuring themselves in the process.
Deschutes County Search and Rescue called in AirLink, who were able to land on the mountain roughly 800 feet down from the injured skier. Search and Rescue volunteers helped the injured skier to the helicopter, which took him to Saint Charles where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The other skier hiked the six-miles out with Search and Rescue crews to safety.
