Sisters man arrested on nearly two dozen child porn charges

A 44-year-old Sisters man was arrested Tuesday on more than 20 counts of child sex abuse charges after a six-month investigation revealed he was in possession of child porn, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Jayson Janes said detectives had been investigating Michael Wills since last year after getting a tip from Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) that he was possibly in possession of and distributing child pornography. Janes said during the investigation, detectives were able to determine Wills was the person involved.

On January 14, detectives contacted Wills at his house on Wildwing Road where he was interviewed before a search warrant was later served. During the search, detectives seized various electronic devices belonging to Wills. A forensic examination of the devices revealed the child porn images, Janes said.

Wills was contacted again on Tuesday and interviewed about what detectives found on his devices. Janes said detectives learned Wills was distributing sexually explicit images of children. He was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail and charged with 11 counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse and 11 counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.

This investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
