Highway 97 near Shaniko was closed for several hours Saturday after a semi that was allegedly hauling too many trailers tried to make a sharp right turn onto the highway and failed.
Oregon State Police say the crash happened at Bakeoven Road around 9:00 a.m.
OSP said the truck “was in violation of exceeding the number of trailers in tow” and couldn’t make the turn as a result. The semi ended up driving off the road and the trailer completely blocked Highway 97.
The truck also hit a power line, OSP said.
The driver was cited for exceeding the number of vehicles (trailers) in tow and failure to drive within the lane.
