A 45-year-old woman was arrested on federal drug charges earlier this month after an investigation by the Salem Street Crimes Unit recovered 31 pounds of meth and $50,000 cash.
Maria Gallegos-Mendoza of Salem, and an unnamed suspect were arrested March 19th during the execution of several search warrants in Salem with the help of DEA and FBI task force partners.
The FBI charged Gallegos-Mendoza with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
According to the federal criminal complaint, Gallegos-Mendoza told investigators that she had been selling methamphetamine for two years in amounts of 3.5 grams to one pound.
The complaint also details that Gallegos-Mendoza would sell pound quantities of methamphetamine for approximately $2,500 each.
Gallegos-Mendoza made her first appearance in federal court last week.
This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
