Redmond Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Redmond man on nearly 20 counts of watching and distributing child pornography.

Sgt. William Bailey said Joshua N. Shipman, 43, was arrested late last month at his Redmond-area home in the 1400 block of Highland View Loop.

Additionally, detectives on Wednesday executed a warrant and seized evidence in the case from a home in Coquille, near the Oregon Coast. A 32-year-old Coquille woman was identified as a person of interest in the case as well.

The investigation started earlier this spring when detectives with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) regarding Shipman possibly possessing and distributing child pornography in Deschutes County.

On August, 28, detectives contacted Shipman while a search warrant was being executed at his residence, Bailey said.

Bailey said during the search warrant, detectives found evidence of Shipman viewing and distributing images of child pornography. Shipman was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County jail on the charges of first and second degree Encouraging Child Sex Abuse.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.

This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
