Redmond’s Historic Landmarks Commission will host a special walking tour this weekend.
Saturday’s event will showcase both Homestead Park and the recently-completed Homestead Canal Trail.
“And the heritage of Redmond, through its founders, Frank and Josephine Redmond, who’s homestead is very close to this location; as well as the canal, which was so instrumental in the development of Redmond,” said Redmond City Planner Scott Woodford.”
Joining the walk will be character actors dressed in period clothing.
“We’re going to have some information on the other founding members of Redmond and the character actors will act out scripts written from their perspective,” said Shannon Rose, member of the Historic Landmarks Commission.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the portion of the paved trail near the Senior Center.
After the walking tour, participants will take part in a free baked potato lunch in honor of Redmond’s potato festival.
