Prineville Mental Health Patient Threatens Police, No Weapons Found

A patient at a Prineville mental health facility Friday morning made multiple 911 calls threatening law enforcement, prompting a multi-agency response.

Prineville Police said the 58-year-old man made the “deadly threats” from a private mental health care residential facility. Prineville Police, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to secure the scene.

A 58-year-old patient was taken into protective custody without incident and later taken to Lutheran Family Services for a mental health evaluation.

“Although threats of the use of weapons were made, the subject never had access to such weapons,” said Prineville Police Sgt. Jimmy O’Daniel.
