Powell Butte Residents Cleaning Up After Flash Fooding

Road crews and residents in Powell Butte Friday were busy cleaning up after Thursday night’s flash flooding.

The brief, but heavy storm flooded gullies and overwhelmed culverts, forcing water, mud and debris across local roads and into yards.

The debris included bowling ball-sized rocks, which caused the closure of Powell Butte Highway for about two hours Thursday night.

Even the Powell Butte cemetery was piled up with mud, toppling several gravestones.
