A Seaside man died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Sunriver, according to Oregon State Police.
The crash happened at Vandervert Road around 1 a.m. when Sherri Wood, a 46-year-old Lyons woman driving a Dodge Caravan, failed to stop when entering the highway, OSP said.
The minivan struck the driver’s side of a northbound semi driven by a Bakersfield, Calif man.
The semi caught fire and was burned beyond recognition.
A passenger in the minivan, 56-year-old Robert Owens of Seaside died at the scene, OSP said.
Wood was taken by air ambulance to St. Charles with life-threatening injuries.
The semi driver was able to escape the semi uninjured.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. and closed the highway for about 10 hours.
OSP said more details would be released later Thursday.
