COVID-19 has claimed two more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 115 according to the Oregon Health Authority.
Oregon Health Authority reported 70 new confirmed cases and seven new presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 2,916.
One new case in Deschutes County brings the total to 81, but 63 patients are considered recovered.
There has been one case in Crook County and four new cases in Jefferson County bring that total to 18.
The OHA’s weekly report also has new data on where the local cases were concentrated. As of Sunday morning – the date of the report was finalized – 65 of the 79 cases in Deschutes County were in Bend with the remaining cases spread out among Redmond, Sunriver and Crooked River Ranch and Terrebonne.
More than 65,000 Oregonians have tested negative for the disease including nearly 3,000 in Central Oregon.
The new confirmed and presumptive cases reported today are in the following counties: Baker (1), Benton (1), Clackamas (4), Columbia (1), Deschutes (1), Jefferson (4), Lane (2), Lincoln (1), Linn (1), Marion (18), Multnomah (24), Polk (7), Umatilla (4), Wasco (1), Washington (6), Yamhill (1).Oregon_COVID-19_Daily_Update (7)
Note: The state is now including presumptive COVID-19 cases in its daily reports, consistent with recently amended guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A presumptive case is someone who does not have a positive PCR test — a “Polymerase Chain Reaction” that confirms if a person has COVID-19 — but is showing symptoms and has had close contact with a confirmed case. If they later test positive by PCR, those will be recategorized as confirmed cases.

Deschutes County has been providing more demographic information on its patients, although those numbers sometimes aren’t in concert with the state reports and are reported at a later time.
