MADRAS – A motorcyclist was injured Monday morning near Madras when he ran into a dump truck and was pinned beneath the truck’s trailer.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched at 8:10 a.m. to Highway 97 and Quaale Road, about 11 miles north of Madras. A few minutes later, deputies arrived to find the dump truck pulling a trailer with a motorcycle underneath it. The motorcycle driver was pinned under the rear trailer tires.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins, “both vehicles were traveling North on Highway 97, the truck was making a left turn onto Quaale Road and the motorcycle, which was rapidly overtaking the truck, ran into the left side of the trailer, with the bike going under the trailer.”
Fire and ambulance personnel were able to care for the driver of the motorcycle while other Jefferson County Fire personnel used a jack to raise the trailer enough to remove the driver. Ambulance personnel cared for the driver until Life Flight arrived on scene a short time later and transported the driver to St. Charles Bend.
The Oregon State Police also arrived at the scene and are investigating the crash. No other details were released about the incident.
