Metolius man arrested on multiple sex abuse charges

A Metolius man befriended families in La Pine, baby sat for their children and sexually abused them, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. William Baily said they received a report of sex abuse on Oct. 23rd involving 72-year-old Louis T. Apo. During the investigation, it was determined Apo used to live in the same neighborhood as the victims in the La Pine area.

Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Apo several sex abuse charges, Bailey said.

On Wednesday, Apo was contacted at his residence in Metolius.  He was taken to the sheriff’s office in Bend where he was interviewed and then later booked in the Deschutes County Jail.

In all, Apo was charged with 14 counts of unlawful sexual penetration with an object, three counts of first-degree sodomy, six counts of first-degree sex abuse and one count of coercion.

The investigation revealed the crimes involving these victims took place over roughly the past five years while Apo lived in the La Pine area, as well as the last year in Metolius, Bailey said.

During this time, it was reported that Apo had ongoing contact with numerous children in the neighborhood.  Bailey said Apo befriended families in the neighborhood and often babysat for his neighbors. Apo has lived in the Metolius area in Jefferson County for the past year. Apo has also lived in Denver, San Francisco and Eureka, CA.

Detectives believe there are possibly more victims. If you have children that have had contact with Louis T. Apo, please contact Detective Josh Barker at 541-617-3331.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely.
