Tuesday, Meta announced a $200,000 construction grant to benefit Crook County High School (CCHS) and area nonprofits.
The construction program at CCHS say they plan to use the grant through a newly formed group called Students Helping Our Community (SHOC). CCHS says that SHOC will partner with select nonprofits to help with building and construction projects.
Money from the grant will also go toward purchase tools and equipment.
Phase I of the grant lists three nonprofits as beneficiaries, each set to receive $25,000 of the full amount. Phase I includes projects for Horses on the Ranch, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, and Ochoco Humane Society.
Crook County Schools say they hope more organizations are included for the phase II projects.
Meta has donated over $2 million to Crook County School District since its data center opened in 2010.
