One man was arrested Wednesday night after a deputy-involved shooting in La Pine, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
Thursday afternoon, investigators released the name of the man involved. Court documents allege 29-year-old James Lamkin, of Bend, pointed a gun at two deputies as they attempted to pull him over. Prosecutors say he fired the gun from his car, toward deputies. No one was injured.
Lt. Chad Davis said the shooting happened about 6:58 p.m. during a traffic stop near the 16000 block of Dyke Road. The deputies at the scene were placed on administrative leave, per DCSO policy, but their names have not yet been made public.
The Tri-County Major Incident Team responded to the scene to help with the investigation, which is now being led by the Redmond Police Department.
Lamkin is charged with DUII, Attempt to Elude, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Menacing and four counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person. He appeared in court Thursday, via video link and is expected back in January.
Davis said any further information would be released by the Deschutes County DA’s office and the Major Incident Team.
