Redmond Police have a man in custody after he barricaded himself inside a tire shop Tuesday afternoon.
At about 12:14 p.m., Redmond Police were called to the Oregon Tire Shop at 612 NW 5th Street on a report of a person with a gun trying to steal a vehicle from the business.
“As it turned out, the call for assistance was made by the eventual suspect, Mr. Oscar Landetta Bello of Culver, Oregon,” said Lt. Curtis Chambers.
Arriving Officers quickly learned Landetta Bello was subject to a restraining order preventing him from being at the business. Officers also determined there was no attempt to steal a vehicle, Chambers said.
By the end of the incident, officers also discovered there was no handgun present at the scene, Chambers said.
Officers also observed Landetta Bello had barricaded himself in the office of the Oregon Tire Shop. A perimeter was secured and phone communication started with Landetta Bello.
Crisis Team Negotiators from the Bend Police Department responded to assist. The negotiators ultimately convinced Landetta Bello to give himself up to law enforcement.
He was taken into custody at 3:03 PM and arrested for violation of a restraining order, second-degree criminal trespass and initiating a false report. He was taken St Charles Redmond for an evaluation.
Landetta Bello will be taken to jail upon his release from the hospital.
