A 23-year-old Madras woman was arrested on drunk driving charges Monday after police say she crashed her car into a house and ran away from the scene.
Madras Police responded at 10:31 p.m. to the 600 block of SW 2nd St. on a report of a Subaru Legacy that had crashed into the house, damaging the house and a boat trailer on site. Several people at the house were not injured, and were able to describe the suspect, saying she had ran away from the scene.
Meanwhile, a neighbor called 911 and reported seeing a woman hiding in the bushes in his backyard, and gave a more detailed description of the suspect.
As the investigation continued, dispatch received a call about a woman with a child needing help near Hull Street. The Jefferson County Fire Department responded and found a woman and child on SW I St. near Hull Street. An officer responded as well and identified the woman as Morgan Rowe.
Police determined Rowe had been driving while intoxicated and lost control of her car, crashing into the house. After running, she arrived home and took her 4-year-old from the house. Someone saw the two outside and called dispatch.
After talking with Rowe, Madras Police arrested Rowe and took her to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering and failure to perform the duties of a driver.
Police said her blood alcohol content was .13 percent.
