▶️ Madras proposes “prepared food” tax to fix streets; some restaurants worry about the impact

The Madras City Council this week passed a resolution that will put a 5% tax on “prepared food and beverages” throughout town.

The tax would generate about a $1 million a year to help fix the city’s roads, but some of the nearly 40 restaurants in town worry the tax might be a turnoff to potential customers.
