It’s the busiest travel season of the year.
“We’re headed down to Palm Springs to spend Thanksgiving with the family.”
RDM was already filled with holiday travelers Friday morning.
And if crowds started forming almost a week before Thanksgiving, just imagine what it’ll be like in the days before.
“Of course we know that Thanksgiving is the busiest time of the year for air travel. We’re expecting here about 85,000 people in the month of November, and that’s about a 15% increase over last year,” said Redmond Mayor George Endicott.
RDM is prepared for an increase in fliers and has tips for anyone coming through, including arriving to the airport early. TSA screening begins at 3:45 a.m. daily.
You can also check parking availability through live parking lot webcams and open spot stats, which are available on RDM’s website, flyrdm.com
And if you’re traveling with gifts, leave them unwrapped for an easy trip through security.
“We’re leaving a day early so traffic isn’t bad,” said Angie Moore. “There are no lines, there’s still plenty of parking, so it was a good day to head out.”
Big holiday crowds can be stressful.
But that’s no reason not to look forward to the week ahead
“We’re going to our grandma’s in Palm Springs, California and we’re probably going to get in her pool because she has a a pool and a hot tub and it’s really just good to get away from all the cold,” said Addison Moore and Paige Duval.
Take it from these cousins, airport travel is a little easier when you stay positive.
“My favorite part about flying is that when you’re like that high up on an airplane, it just feels so amazing and I love the sights below.”
