Human-caused fire near La Pine burns nearly 3 acres

Firefighters say a human-caused fire burned nearly three acres near La Pine Sunday.

Central Oregon Fire Info reported around 9:15 a.m. Sunday that firefighters responded to what was initially deemed a 5-acre fire along Forest Service Road 4330. It was south of La Pine State Park and the Deschutes River and was 3/4-mile west of 1st Street.

About an hour later, Central Oregon Fire said forward progression was stopped at about 2.79 acres.

By 4:40 p.m., Central Oregon Fire said hose had been laid around the fire and firefighters were mopping up.

Central Oregon Fire did not give exact details about the cause of the fire other than it was human-caused.
