You’ve heard of books clubs and you’ve probably taken part in a few potlucks. Maybe you’ve even had a potluck with your book club. There’s a club in bend that brings the two ideas together.
Bend’s The Cookbook Club is a diverse group of people passionate about food with varying levels of cooking experience.
Jill Goatcher is the creator of The Cookbook Club, starting it up a couple of years ago.
“This month we did ‘The Silver Palate Cookbook,’ such a fun one. It smells like garlic in here which is in incredible,” Jill said.

No matter your culinary skills, all are welcome. The group shares insight into recipes, knowledge of ingredients, details on deserts and helpful reminders — like when cooking with beets.
“And the only thing I would do differently is wear a pair of gloves,” one club member said, showing his red-tinted hands.
After Jill’s first year in law school, she traded in her legal literature for 20 cookbooks.
“Like when am I going to ever reference a property text book right?” Jill said. She also notes law school text books are really expensive.
“Every time I open a book I learn something about cooking.” she said.
Recently she’s started sharing her kitchen exploits on social media at @cookwithjill. You can also find a list of upcoming Cookbook Club events at this link.
