Infant Death Investigation Following Incident at Madras Speedway

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s office released more information this afternoon about a four month old who sustained fatal injuries at the Madras Speedway on Saturday night. The baby, Dawsyn Rose Rhett, was rushed to St. Charles Madras before being flown to a hospital in Portland. She passed away Sunday from her injuries.

A local resident told Central Oregon Daily earlier this afternoon that the child may have been in the pit area of the raceway when she was unintentionally struck. While we have yet to confirm those reports, what we do know is that the investigation is in it’s early stages and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says they are releasing very little information at this time out of respect for the family.

Law enforcement is asking that anyone who may have seen something at the Madras Speedway regarding baby Dawsyn or her caretakers to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office at 541-475-6520.

Dawsyn’s family has started a GoFundMe to help her family pay for funeral expenses. You can donate on the page ‘Funeral Fund for Dawsyn Rose’.
