Today, the Deschutes Forest Service is closing the Lava River Cave between Bend and Sunriver at 2 p.m. due to the National Weather Service’s heat advisory. This closure is meant to keep volunteers and employees safe.
The visitor’s center and indoor facilities will remain open to the public, and there is no word of when the cave will open again.
