Handel’s Ice Cream in Bend celebrated their grand opening Friday and will continue this weekend.
The store held a ribbon cutting Friday with buy one, get one free ice cream.
The celebration continues Saturday. The first 100 people there will get free ice cream for a year. The store opens at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a face painter and balloon artist.
The store is located in the same parking lot as Walmart and has already been open for several days.
“It’s exceeded my expectation,” said owner Tim Joyce. “I mean, obviously, I came to Bend knowing that, you know, I believe Bend’s a great community, but the community has been fantastic early on and they’ve been out in full support with the weather has been, you know, sketchy here over the last few weeks. But the demand for ice cream is great and we have a great product and the people of Bend have been very supportive.”
