An event this month put some people out on the farm, to rescue good food that otherwise might go to waste.
This is a gleaning event held October 3rd – the workers in the field are all Hydro Flask employees.
Gleaning is the collection of leftover crops to ensure healthy food doesn’t go to waste.
They worked with Seed to Table to help collect nutritious food for people in need.
It’s part of the Workplace CSA program which pairs area companies with local farms so employees can get healthy local foods.
The program has helped generate an extra $33,000 in revenue for four local farms.
The crops the Hydro Flask crews collected will be heading to local food banks.
