Eugene man arrested for attacking 70-year-old Redmond hotel owner

A Eugene man was arrested Tuesday after assaulting a 70-year-old woman who owned the Redmond hotel he was staying in, police said.

According to Redmond Police, officers were dispatched to a reported assault about 6:33 a.m. at the Hub Motel on NW 6th street.

Sgt. Jonny Dickson said the man, identified as 53-year-old James Lamb, reportedly used a garbage can to break down the glass door to the hotel manager’s office and proceeded to attack the woman.

After the attack, Lamb returned to a room he was renting at the motel Dickson said.

Redmond patrol officers and detectives were able to make contact with Lamb, who surrendered without incident.

The woman was transported to St. Charles in Redmond with significant, but non-life-threatening injuries, Dickson said. Lamb was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail on several charges including third-degree assault, strangulation and second-degree burglary.
