Last night a Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputy was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 207, north of Mitchell, and today a procession of emergency vehicles from all across the region escorted Christopher Jones’ body back to Bend.
According to Oregon State Police, Jones was riding his motorcycle northbound on the highway and went off the road at curve. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones had worked for the sheriff’s department for twelve years and in a Facebook post today, Sheriff Shane Nelson said, “Chris was a kind and positive man with a positive attitude. He will be missed by our office and community. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates.”
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Employee’s Association have established a GoFundMe page to help support Jones’ family.
