DCSO K-9 sniffs out meth during La Pine area traffic stop

A Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office K-9 helped deputies make a meth bust Wednesday morning after a traffic stop near La Pine.

Lt. Chad Davis said deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding and failing to signal a lane change on Highway 97 north of La Pine around 11:22 a.m. During the stop, K-9 Ares alerted to the odor of drugs in the car, Davis said.

The driver, 55-year-old Andrew Foley of Sacramento, Calif. was detained while deputies searched the car and discovered nearly one pound of suspected meth hidden within the car, Davis said.

Foley was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and taken to the Deschutes County Jail.
