The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified the remains found in a Bend field earlier this month as 57-year-old Anita C. Presley.
“The Medical Examiner will likely list the cause of death in this case as ‘undetermined’, however no foul play is suspected in her death,” said Sgt. William Bailey.
Presley’s remains were found in a field near Butler Market Road and Hamby Road on November 7th.
“Detectives had info she may have been camped somewhere in the area of where she was located,” Bailey said. “It is unknown for sure how long she had been in Central Oregon.”
Her driver’s license lists an address of Harbor, Oregon on the coast.
She was not a reported missing person.
Searchers spent a couple days scouring the location, looking for more clues that would reveal the woman’s identity. Bailey said the remains likely were in the field for weeks or possibly months.
Deputies and detectives were assisted by the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, Deschutes County Medical Examiner, and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, to document, collect evidence, and recover the human remains, Bailey said.
