Darlene Fire brought to 5% containment; public meeting set for Friday evening


The Darlene Fire remained at 686 acres Friday morning, as fire crews brought the flames to five percent containment.

Around 201 firefighters spent the morning securing areas around structures, strengthening containment lines, and keeping an eye out for spot fires.

Fire behavior is expected to decrease Friday night with the increase of relative humidity.

The public can attend a community meeting at the La Pine Park and Recreation District Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Evacuations orders are still in place in many areas, and an evacuation checkpoint is still run by the American Red Cross at La Pine Middle School.

A current evacuation map is shown below.

Red= Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations remain in place for those living on Darlene Way south of La Pine to the Deschutes/Klamath County line, and along Old Ice Cave Rd. 

Orange= Level 2 “Be Set” evacuations remain in place for the Sun Forest Estates, Split Rail subdivision, and Antelope Meadows, which sit south of the Deschutes/Klamath County line.
