Steins Pillar Elementary said goodbye to longtime principal Mr. Jim Bates with a special gift Monday.

Teachers surprised Bates with a commemorative rock, celebrating his 29 years of service to Crook County Schools as a teacher and administrator.

Crook County Schools announced the surprise on Facebook, adding “we want to thank him for having such a big heart, always showing grace and compassion, and for his enormous impact on several generations of crook county children!”

Monday marked Mr. Bates’ final day as principal.
