Citing heat, State Fire Marshal temporarily allows self-serve at gas stations

The Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal is temporarily allowing Oregonians to pump their own gasoline at gas stations in an effort to protect gas station workers from the heat wave sweeping across Oregon this week.

The suspension of regulations that prohibit pumping your own gas began Sunday, June 27, and will last for 48 hours until the evening of Tuesday, June 29.

The suspension doesn’t affect areas of the state that already allow self-serve gas.
