The festivities got rolling Wednesday night with a year’s worth of Chick-fil-A meals awarded to 100 lucky raffle ticket holders.
The excitement reached a fever pitch Thursday when the doors opened at 6:30 a.m. and more than 100 people jammed into Central Oregon’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant.
This is the 5th Chick-fil-A location in Oregon and number 2,530 for the Atlanta-based chain with a cult-like following.
‘We’ve been waiting 5 years for this. We’re used to live in Atlanta and we used to eat Chick-fil-A about 3 times a week, so we are very excited,” said John Ferguson.
The drive through service was busy too
“I’ve never had this. That’s why we’re here. Honestly I think that this just got built into Central Oregon so why not come try something new?”
Ribbon cutting and first-bite ceremonies were held after the sun came up.
“Ribbon cuttings like this are an example of growth and investment in the community,” said Scott Wallace, president of the Bend Chamber of Commerce.
Local Chick-fil-A operator Todd Keller says he’s hired 90 people and he’s looking for more.
