Local debate series begins tonight; candidate forums to air live on CBS, stream online

Central Oregon Daily News and our media partners KBND and The Source Weekly will host a series of three debates with local candidates beginning October 12th.

These debates will be live, in-person conversations with the candidates.

Under the circumstances Oregonians are living with this election season, it has never been more important to provide a forum where journalists can ask relevant questions of candidates and in this format, candidates will be able to ask each other questions as well.

You can watch live on CBS or stream online at 7 pm from Oct 12-14. Get to know the candidates and hear where they stand on issues before election day. (Tuesday’s debate will begin immediately after NFL football.)

  • Monday, Oct. 12th: Candidates for Deschutes County Sheriff, Scott Schaier and incumbent Shane Nelson
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13th: Candidates for Deschutes County Commissioner Phil Chang (D) and the incumbent Phil Henderson (R)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14th: Candidates for Oregon House District 54 Jason Kropf (D) and incumbent Cheri Helt (R)

Moderators for the event include Allen Schauffler, Anchor from Central Oregon Daily News, Farrah Bahm, Reporter from KBND and Aaron Switzer, Publisher for the Source Weekly.
