Allow us to toot our own horn.
Central Oregon Daily News Anchor Allen Schauffler and Photojournalist Steve Kaufmann were honored over the weekend with a Northwest Regional Emmy Award.
Their story on all the trash along one country mile of road won in the ‘News Feature, Light Feature’ category, beating out competition from markets including Seattle and Portland.
Central Oregon Daily was nominated twice in that category, with Samantha O’Connor and Steve Kaufmann’s story “Tight Blue Lines” taking another slot.
It’s our first Emmy win and we’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve been doing.
You can see both stories below:
Allen Schauffler donned the safety gear, put on some gloves, and got dirty last year, walking a half-mile of southwest Houston Lake Road, picking up every single bit of trash.
Samantha O’Connor’s adventure was a bit more picturesque as she took us all to the clear waters of the Fall River.
It wasn’t a simple afternoon of fly fishing – it was to showcase a program called Tight Blue Lines, which helps first responders decompress and connect with nature.
